"When death finds you, may it find you alive"

When death seeks you out one day,
years apart when you're old and grey,
may he look at you and consider twice,
may he hesitate once at the spark in your eyes
and may he have to kill you thrice.
When death rips your heart apart,
may he, in disappointment, depart,
disappointed to find no trace of himself in you,
for all your life, you had been alive.
When death finds you, may he find you brimming with laughter,
may life be etched into the corners of your mouth,
into laugh lines decorating the tips of your eyes,
into the crowding crinkles on your nose,
in the roses on your cheeks;
may life be etched in the lightness of your stride and the rich reveries of your voice.
May death bear witness to a life well-lived,
and be overpowered by the force of your life
seeping through his lifeless limbs.
May death be weakened by your virtue
of being truly alive-
alive with fulfilled dreams and kept promises,
neither regrets nor petty vices,
cheeks and lips kissed and worn,
the echoing sound of your laughter, and
tears running down your cheeks-
through grief and sorrow, and boundless joy,
may death find you alive.
